I've heard, CB PowerBoost linear amplifier, but in reality know nothing about how they work. Are they just plug and go or are complicated to operate? I think that buying an old tube amp guy, but I could lose my money to ... Anyone?

Totally illegal.

If you do not know the RF emissions, honest ... For your safety, you better leave this subject alone. Amp CB is illegal for a reason. CBERS requires no training. If you do not know what to do to stay away you.

linear amplifier is indeed against the government of the FCC, if it is technically illegal.
4Watt output is legal.

So, good for things ...
If you have a book to get / schematic as a base unit, you can configure the device, 5-50 watts, depending on the device.

There are 2 kinds of amplifiers. The most common is the linear output. You can as little as 100 watts or 2000 Watts.
They are plug and play interface for connection to the radio and antenna. generally require a bit of power, which receives more power.
a sort of tube-year-old is a great power face and if you use tubes at risk of bursting. In the solid state is the best.
When the microphone is bursting amplifier signal. It bled more than 1.5 channels, depending on your radio.

Where to buy? Craigslist, eBay is a good place to look.
You need a high powered antenna for him .. low antenna literally melt .. Maybe it's the 102 "whip.
